The ReThink: Why Housing Matters initiative supports public housing authorities across the US in their efforts to join us in battling the negative perceptions of public housing. We invite you to view the video stories linked below that were inspired by ReThink, and encourage you to learn more about public housing.

Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority CARES

The Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority’s (CMHA) mission is to create safe, quality, affordable housing opportunities and improve the quality of life for the communities they serve in Cleveland, Ohio. CMHA owns and manages property and administers rent subsidy programs to provide eligible low-income residents and families with safe, sustainable, dynamic communities of choice where everyone can strive for success. CMHA maintains an accredited police department to ensure safe places to live and work, and a social services department that develops programs to enhance the quality of life of its residents.

“C, is for Commitment; A, to be Accountable; R, we Respect you; E, stands for Excellence; S, for your Safety.”

The CMHA CARES song was written by CMHA employee Kevin Frazier and is performed by Kevin and a group of CMHA employees known as “CMHA Voices.” The ReThink initiative supports their efforts and encourages you to learn more: https://www.kollaborate.tv/player?link=5a70ed4f0b89f.

The luncheon is held to build an inclusive community and to give the senior residents a place to enjoy their neighbors company. Mayor Rahm Emanuel, CEO Michael R. Merchant, comedian George Willborn, 900 seniors, and the Gentlemen of Leisure Band were in attendance.
